At Home Gel Polish Nail Kits

“Yep I know what you are thinking!”

Cat, you work from home so surely that’s an at home nail kit… ”WRONG!”.

Professional nail kits and at home nail kits are SO different, although it isn’t just about the kit itself. It’s the knowledge, the understanding, and the training, us beauty professionals have to create the beautiful nails you desire but in a safe way.

I mean for those of you at home, can you really say you know the anatomy of a nail and its surrounding skin tissues?. I don’t mean to sound condescending in any shape or form but without this knowledge, what happens when it goes wrong, would you know the safe ways to deal with this situation?.

I am sure there are many of us at home that think ”oh this is easy, it’s just painting nail polish”, but gone are the days where you don’t have to think about chemical reactions to non-professional products… Am I right? You hear so many stories now of people having allergic reactions to nail products they are using at home and the only thing I can say is Professional Training is key.

You will find a lot of non-professional unknown products are sold cheaply, and there is a reason for that. It’s part of the reason why us as professionals buy quality over quantity when it comes to the brands we use, and it’s one of the reasons we train to be in our industry.

The experts of our industry have done insane amounts of testing and research when it comes to the products they are providing, and could probably tell you off the top of their heads the chemicals involved in the process of creating each product, but do you truly get that reassurance from the unknown non-professional brands being used at home?.

It’s funny isn’t it, sometimes life deals you with so many different cards… I mean, it could be you’re a busy professional who commutes to the city of London each day or you have a family, with say 3 kids at home that need taking care of, all of those things are a big deal and could mean you can’t get to the nearest salon for your nails. So you turn to an at home nail kit but could you honestly say that if you got a particular nail infection, you would know what it is and how it should be treated?

I know that everyone is busy, and the cost of living can make things tough so sometimes you just don’t have time. But think of it this way, if you can find an hour of time to do your own nails at home every few weeks with a non-professional nail kit, would it not be far safer to use that time to visit a trained professional? And wouldn’t it be nicer to just sit back, relax and have a breather from the outside world for a change!
